How Do I Get Bed Bugs?

Making An Entrance

There are several ways by which bed bugs can get into your home. Usually it’s by:

  • Clinging to clothing, luggage, pets, or used furniture.
  • Through wall voids into your home such as cracks and crevices around base boards, light sockets etc.
  • Wild animals, such as bats or birds.
  • Houseguests visiting from a source of infestation.

Well Traveled Pests

Bed bugs generally come from crowded dwellings that have high guest turnover, such as:

  • Apartment complexes
  • Dormitories
  • Homeless shelters
  • Hotels
  • Military barracks
  • Refugee camps

It’s Not You, It’s Them

Infestations have nothing to do with how clean your home is, which is a big misconception many people have. Bed bugs are very low maintenance and don’t really care how clean or dirty your home is. They always come in from another infested source. However, if your home is cluttered and messy, tracking bed bugs may be even more difficult.
